Robert Murphy

Robert Murphy is an award-winning crime-writer. His first book, To Hunt A Killer (co-written with Det Supt Julie Mackay), won 'Best New Author at the 2023 True Crime Awards and provided the inspiration for the forthcoming ITV police drama series 'Gone’ starring Eve Myles and David Morrissey. It was shortlisted for a CWA ALCS Gold Dagger. 

His second book, Decoy won 'Book of the Year' and 'Impact for Change' at the 2025 True Crime Awards.

Rob is a Royal Television Society Award-winning TV correspondent for ITV News, specialising in crime and investigations. He has covered some of the most fascinating crimes of recent years - including the Salisbury Poisonings, the Parachute Murder Plot, the Christopher Halliwell killings among many other cases. 

He produced and presented ITV's hit true crime podcasts No Strings Attached and Catching Melanie's Killer.

He's based in the West Country where he's a fan of the regional microbrews, swimming and reading.
